A much needed 17-track anthology of the multitudinous sessions, singles, outtakes and mixes with which the Revillos staked their claim on whichever crown should be worn by a savage kitsch collision of the B-52's and the Cramps. As an addendum to their pitifully brief early-'80s lifespan -- one album and a chain of lost singles -- it is peerless, all the more so since much of its content has never seen CD before. Far more than the preceding Rezillos, the Revillos brought the Fay Fife/Eugene Reynolds partnership to its brittle, glittering peak. But if Rev Up, the team's only studio album, offers a snapshot of a single day in the life, Attack of the Giant Revillos traces the madness from beginning to...end? The so-called full-length mix of Bongo Brain, the 1982 B-side Graveyard Groove, and the band's classic reworking of the Exciters' oldie Tell Him, fed through the glitter-stomp mangle of Hello's mid-'70s revival, are all solidly compulsive, while Santa Claus Is Coming to Town is given a trash-stomp edge that ensures Christmas might never sound the same again. A wealth of other treasures include a fabulous version of Manhunt, but in truth, it's impossible to play favorites here.
