Biography
God Module (known to fans as simply God Mod) crawled from the crypt in Orlando, Florida in 1999 and have been crafting addictive goth-techno ever since. The artistic spawn of Jasyn Bangert and former member Andrew Ramirez, the group went on to include Clint Carney, Courtney Bangert, Jon Siren, Brill, and Andrew Pearson. Their brand of darkwave was shrouded in a purposefully spooky and scary image, but the music was sleek, throbbing, and highly danceable, like music patrons might hear in a piercings-and-tattoos S&M club populated by vampires. Their debut album, Artificial, was released in 1999, and was followed by a steady stream of equally catchy nightmare-dance, including Artificial's 2.0 sequel in 2004; the Perception (2002) and The Victims Among Friends (2004) EPs, which were reissued together in 2013, and the pair of Empath LPs, separated by over a decade (2003, 2013). While their aesthetic was intentionally creepy -- album titles like Viscera, Rituals, and Seance, for example -- Bangert's knack for hooks recalled the best early Nine Inch Nails remixes, KMFDM, Gravity Kills, and IAMX. Their tenth album, Prophecy, was released in late 2015. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
