Melissa (aka Melissa M) is a French R&B singer who released her debut album in 2007 and whose single Elle was a chart-topping hit that same year. Born of Algerian heritage on August 21, 1985, in Marseille, she began her performance career as an adolescent. She got her first taste of national fame on the late-'90s televised talent show #Graines de Star. In association with the production team Kilomaître, she made her commercial recording debut in 2006 with Avec Tout Mon Amour. A collaboration with French rapper Akhenaton of the group IAM, Avec Tout Mon Amour was subsequently compiled on the Kilomaître-produced soundtrack album Taxi 4 (2007). A couple months later Melissa made her full-length album debut with Avec Tout Mon Amour on the Warner Music France subsidiary label Up. The album reached the Top 20 of the French albums chart and spawned the chart-topping single Elle and the Top Five single Cette Fois.
