Biography
Composer William Duckworth, who had composed over 100 works by the late 1990s, was often regarded as the founder of post-minimalism because of works like his Southern Harmony and Time Curve Preludes. For his education, Duckworth attended the University of Illinois, where he studied with Ben Johnston, and went on to teach at Bucknell. In 1997, Duckworth put an interactive piece, Cathedral, on the Web, scheduled to culminate, years later, in a live, online 48-hour concert. Duckworth died of pancreatic cancer at his home in West New York, New Jersey, in September 2012 at the age of 69. ~ Joslyn Layne, Rovi
