Biography
National Public Radio personality Michael Feldman was born and raised in Milwaukee, graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. While teaching at an alternative high school in Madison in 1977, he volunteered his services at local public radio station WORT, soon landing his own Friday night call-in show, Thanks for Calling. Within months, Feldman graduated to a daily morning program, The Breakfast Special. A series of radio jobs followed before he was tapped by Chicago's WGN to host their afternoon drive-time slot. In 1985, Feldman returned to the Wisconsin Public Radio network to host Whad'ya Know?, a weekly talk show complete with celebrity interviews, call-in quiz contests, and a "Town of the Week" chosen by tossing a dart at a map. By the following decade, the series was a staple of NPR schedules across the nation, and in 1999, spawned its own CD collection, Why Not: The Best of Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know? ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
