Jules Taub
from Pottstown, PA
September 19, 1913 - November 17, 1984 (age 71)
Biography
Jules Taub was the songwriting pseudonym of Jules Bihari, one-fourth of the Bihari Brothers, who founded the crucially important blues/RB indie label Modern Records in 1945. The purpose of the Jules Taub name appears to have been less than on the level; the likelihood of Bihari having co-composed the many songs on which the Taub credit appears -- many by B.B. King -- seems faint at best, according to most historians. It did, however, ensure that a sizable cut of the songwriting royalties would be diverted away from the artists in question. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
