Biography
Robbie France was born in 1959 and in a very impressive feat began teaching at the Australian Academy of Music at the age of 15. He later started playing drums with various groups around Australia and formed his own fusion group called Carnival. In 1983 he joined the band Diamond Head, spending two years playing with them. He next joined up with UFO, only playing with them for a matter of months. He formed another group of his own called One Nation. His next move was to quit that group and join Ellis, Beggs, and Howard. His next career movie was joining Wishbone Ash. He recorded one album, Strange Affair, with them and toured in that group for the release. Upon returning to Australia, France released his solo album, Gift. Cass Lewis approached him in 1994 with the prospect of forming a new band, and France agreed. That band was Skunk Anansie and they recorded Paranoid and Sunburnt while he was banging the skins for them. He left that group the following year, hooking up with Alphaville. During his tenure in that band he suffered a severed Achilles tendon, taking an extended vacation from drum playing. ~ Gary Hill, Rovi
