Kryst the Conqueror
Biography
An ill-fated heavy metal supergroup, if ever there was one, Kryst the Conqueror was masterminded in 1987 by bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle, after the siblings finally laid the Misfits to rest. With journeyman vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (Axel Rudi Pell, Skräpp Mettle, Takara, Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force) calling himself Kryst the Conqueror due to lingering contractual obligations, the band (rounded out by one the Murp on drums) never played so much as a single show, but released a five-song EP in 1990 that showcased their debt to Iron Maiden's galloping fantasy metal. It was later revealed that the band had in fact recorded an entire album's worth of extra material, but this never saw the light of day, and the group didn't seemed like a 100 percent serious proposition, either -- even though it supposedly endured until 1994, when Only and Doyle re-formed the Misfits. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
