Biography
Midnight Funk Association is an occasional handle for the recordings of Mark Broom and David Hill, mostly heard on remixes and compilation contributions. That two of those compilations were Mo' Wax releases increased their profile considerably -- first was the hip-hop-inspired Excursions series (for which they recorded Firescratch), then later the mammoth Headz 2 four-disc compendium. Besides a few singles for Pure Plastic and a remix for Certificate 18, Broom and Hill kept relatively more busy with their day jobs: Broom as a solo production act, and Hill as one-fourth the Ballistic Brothers. Very quietly, a Midnight Funk Assocation LP titled Coffee Shop Rules dropped on Domino in 2003. ~ John Bush, Rovi
