Born Emily Joy Green in Devon, England, Emmi had an itinerant childhood due to her father's work as a pilot. The family eventually settled down in Warnbro in suburban Perth, Australia for several years before Green left to study dance and acting in Sydney at the age of 16. She soon realized that songwriting was her biggest passion, and she had over 100 songs in hand by the time she got a manager and signed a music publishing deal. She co-wrote songs for artists including Leona Lewis, Bridgit Mendler, and Little Nikki before deciding to write for herself.
Emmi's debut single, "My Kinda Swag," premiered in mid-2015, and was followed quickly by "Sleep on It," which was praised by Taylor Swift on her social media accounts. Emmi released her third single of the year, "60 Minutes," that October. To close out 2015, she was featured on the dance tracks "Our Youth" by Sonny Alven and "Blind" by French producer Feder. She also co-wrote the latter, which charted in several European countries. She returned with three of her own singles ("Up N Away," "You Said You Loved Me," and "Couldn't Care Less") in 2016. That year, she also voiced the Goblin character in the blockbuster Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She performed the James Newton Howard song "Blind Pig" for the film's soundtrack. A year later, Emmi returned with the Max Farrar-produced single "Talk to Me." Introduced as the first track from a "concept playlist" titled LOVERS, her song "Moments" arrived in September 2018. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
