Guitarist/vocalist Diego García, bassist Alex de Lucas, and drummer Larry Balboa met at university and quickly became a staple of Madrid's burgeoning garage scene with the release of their debut EP, Aden Arabie, in early 2013. Over the next three years, they would record for a number of labels, including London-based Luv Luv Luv Records, Austria's Bachelor Records, and American cassette empire Burger Records. After releasing a split 7" with fellow garage pop Spaniards Hinds, they signed with Heavenly Records, which issued the Parrots' debut LP, Los Niños Sin Miedo, in the summer of 2016. It was recorded in a one-week span at a seaside studio in Cádiz by famed engineer Paco Loco, who inspired the band to take chances with his encouraging attitude. For their second album, the Parrots' core duo of García and de Lucas traveled to London to work with producer and Horrors member Tom Furse. Taking a more liesurely approach, the group's more stylistically varied follow-up, Dos, was recorded during the spring of 2020 and released in October 2021. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
