Biography
John Densmore, of course, was the drummer for the legendary Doors, whom he joined with guitarist Robby Krieger after the two were recruited out of a band called the Psychedelic Rangers. Although Densmore was perhaps the least visible member of the group, his jazz training provided subtle rhythmic shifts away from the rock norm, furthering the band's unique sound. After the Doors' dissolution, Densmore was fairly quiet; he worked with Robby Krieger off and on, both on Krieger's solo albums and with the Butts Band. In more recent years, Densmore penned the acclaimed Riders on the Storm: My Life With Jim Morrison and the Doors, an account of the band's rise and fall from his own perspective. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
