Biography
As a poet, composer and lutenist Gabriel Bataille had the ability to arrange the work of ohers usually writing for solo voice with lute accompaniments. He was able to gain favor in service to the French Queen and, through his friendship with Ballard, was provided the opportunity to establish a musical career. Bataille's own songs of import included chansons and airs which included "Bacchus droit," and "Ballet des proverbs". "C'en est fait ma belle Amarante" and "Depuis que le flambeau" are examples of two of Bataille's other songs. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
