Biography
Songwriter/guitarist Peter DiStefano started the rock-electronica hybrid Venice Underground in the wake of Porno for Pyros' late-'90s dissolution. The project featured collaborations with former Jane's Addiction bass player Eric Avery and Bauhaus/Love and Rockets percussionist Kevin Haskins, as well as vocalists Beca Starr and Kacy Crowley and L.A.-based electronica producer Big Green Boy. Its beats and swirling sonic textures were also a departure for DiStefano, who was known for his heavy guitar work. Little was heard from Venice Underground after its self-titled debut appeared in October 2000, although that album was reissued five years later in a DualDisc format via Myutopia. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
