Lee Bloom, pianist, has worked in many contexts on the San Francisco Bay Area music scene since 1990. Originally from Ohio, Lee began playing the keyboard at age two on a toy piano. This activity, coupled with passionate marching and dancing while listening to his father's dixieland records, eventually encouraged Lee's parents to begin his formal training on a regulation-sized instrument. Since these formative years, Lee has appeared at many San Francisco venues and currently performs in several jazz settings including piano trio, quartet/quintet, and big band. He has toured with jazz groups in France and the Czech Republic. Lee has also worked as a session player, contributing to a variety of recording projects ranging from straight-ahead jazz to folk to heavy metal to country and western. He teaches music privately and is a member of the International Association of Jazz Educators. He has an academic background in visual arts and music, and is interested in the inter-relatedness of things visual and musical. Lee is also a licensed Architect., Rovi
