Max Styler was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, California. He began playing guitar as a child, and was producing electronic and DJ'ing while in high school. His dubstep track "Ready for Launch" attracted some online attention in early 2013, and he opened for progressive trance duo Above Beyond at a sold-out beach party the following July. In early 2014, on his 18th birthday, Styler signed to Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records. His first single for the label, "Badman" (with Autoerotique), became a hit, reaching Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart; Torro Torro's remix of the track was eventually nominated for Best Dance Recording of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards. Debut EP Aftershock, including collaborations with DEV and Charlier Darker, was released in 2015. Numerous releases appeared in 2016, from the trap single "Fly" (with Graves) to the emotionally turbulent full-length Heartache. Several more singles arrived on Dim Mak in 2017, including "Heroes" (featuring Nevve) and "Promises (featuring GOLDN); additionally, Styler and Dirty Audio's "Roller Coaster" was released by Monstercat. Styler released the house-oriented Feel It EP in 2018, and continued in a dance-pop direction with 2019's Supernatural. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
