Guru Josh was an acid house producer from England who scored a Top Five hit single throughout Western Europe with 1990's "Infinity." Remixed for reissue many times over the years, the song became an even bigger hit in 2008 when remixed by Klaas under the name "Infinity 2008."

Paul Walden made his recording debut as Guru Josh in 1989 with a white-label 12" of "Infinity" that was intended to promote a rave of the same name. Though only 1,000 copies of the 12" were reportedly pressed (on Walden's own label, Infinity Records), it became an acid house anthem at the Haçienda, the influential dance club in Manchester, England, where Mike Pickering, the club's Friday night DJ, championed the song. In the wake of the song's sudden popularity amid the British acid house scene, Guru Josh was offered a recording contract with Deconstruction, a dance music subsidiary of BMG. An updated version of "Infinity" was released in turn and became a Top Five hit single throughout parts of Western Europe, including England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Norway. A full-length album, Infinity, was also released. Follow-up singles included "Freaky Dreamer," "Holographic Dreams," and "Whose Law (Is It Anyway?)" in 1990, plus "Hallelujah" the following year. Soon afterward, Walden decided to delve into music video by way of his production company Guru Josh Productions, releasing numerous collections of videos under the name Dr. Devious. A 12" single of the song "Cyberspace" was released that same year by VR featuring Dr. Devious and His Wisemen.

After this, Walden toured the world playing and DJ'ing as Guru Josh, took up skydiving and formed an aerial photography company, did glass sculpting, bought a restaurant, and moved to Spain. In 2001, a remix of "Infinity" done by Mike Dragon was released, and more remixes followed in 2004 and 2007. Also in 2007, Walden formed the Guru Josh Project with himself (Guru Josh), Anders Nyman (Snakebyte), and Darren Bailie (DJ DazPerkz) as the main members. In 2007, Big City Beats obtained a license from EMI UK to remix "Infinity" and was responsible for producing a new version by the German DJ Klaas. "Infinity 2008" became a worldwide hit, reaching number one on many national charts.

The group released a single in 2009 ("Crying in the Rain") before disbanding. Walden kept using the Guru Josh name and put out new singles -- 2009's "Eternity" (which was made with DJ Igor Blaska), 2010's "Frozen Teardrops" (featuring Lauren Rose), and 2011's "Love of Life." In 2012, Guru Josh released a new remix of his initial smash hit "Infinity" for Big City Beats.
