Terrifying Experience
Biography
After parting ways with the seminal Guided By Voices in 1996, guitarist Mitch Mitchell wanted to take the opportunity of writing and recording his own music. So without any assistance from additional musicians, Mitchell went into the studio, recorded all the instrumental tracks by himself, layered the vocals and released it as a split EP with Illyah Kuryahkin in 1996 -with a little help from Arena Rock Records; hence, Terrifying Experience was born. Not to long after the record sold out, Mitchell wanted to take things a step further by recruiting an actual band; resulting in the 1997 line up of guitarist Duane Hart, bassist Geoff Ortlip and drummer Mark Craigo, Terrifying Experience quickly followed with their second seven inch (first release as a band), I'm Invisible b/w Legacy of Conquest and the Search for Omega Minus EP -both courtesy of AAJ Records. With a local following developed in their home quarters of Dayton, Ohio, Terrifying Experience felt the confidence for a 1998 US tour, after the release of their first full-length Supreme Radial that same year. ~ Mike DaRonco, Rovi
