Graffiti Island
Biography
Graffiti Island make deadpan, off-kilter noise pop tunes that owe as much to the Stooges and G.G. Allin as they do to Beat Happening -- their tracks are eminently tongue in cheek and sound something along the lines of a surf rock group trapped in a grimy echo chamber. The East London-based trio, consisting of bassist Conan Roberts, drummer Cherise Payne, and frontman Pete Dee, saw the release of their debut 7" single on House Anxiety Records in early 2009, followed soon after by another single on Sex Is Disgusting. Graffiti Island were also featured on a four-way split 7", released via Art Fag Records in 2009, featuring the like-minded groups Crocodiles, the Dum Dum Girls, and PENS. ~ TiVo Staff, Rovi
