Born to a Ukrainian classical pianist, Dmitry grew up around music. When he was nine he was already enrolled in an experimental music program at the college his mother worked at, learning music history, theory, and composition. In 1981, Dmitry moved to the states and frequented dance clubs like The Paradise Garage and NASA. The electronic sounds of groups like Yellow Magic Orchestra and Kraftwerk combined with early East Coast hip-hop heavily influenced the young DJ. Dmitry started DJing at local New York City clubs, and soon after his reputation was built, Deee-lite came together.
After 11 global music chart placers, Deee-lite disbanded in 1995. As with all the group members, Dmitry pursued a solo career similar to the role he had in the group. With the separation from Deee-lite, Dmitry also strived to push himself away from the housier vocals associated heavily with sound of the group. To promote his new solo career, he toured much of the global club circuit and contributed to the #Scream soundtrack. His influences for his first solo project are the heavier sounds of Steve Stoll, John Selway, and Timo Maas. The release Scream of Consciousness was issued in late 2000. ~ Diana Potts, Rovi
