Carl Hultgren
Biography
As one half of the acclaimed Michigan space rock duo Windy Carl, Carl Hultgren began sculpting his signature spectral guitar drones with partner Windy Weber in the early '90s, their dark and evocative albums going on to influence the next generation of astral travelers. The pair, stationed in Dearborn, Michigan, a few miles outside of Detroit, worked ceaselessly on recordings, sporadic gigs, and their jointly owned and operated record shop Stormy Records, amassing a thick discography. While Weber ventured into recording solo material with her stunning 2008 outing I Hate People, Hultgren didn't release sounds away from the duo until his 2014 solo debut Tomorrow. Both albums were released on the band's Blue Flea imprint, and Tomorrow focused on Hultgren's slow-burning exploration of guitar textures and themes of home, tranquility, and new beginnings. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
