Biography
A long-running roots rock ensemble, the Morells formed in Springfield, Missouri in the early '80s. Born out of several other bands including the Symptoms and the Skeletons, the Morells included guitarist D. Clinton Thompson, bassist Lou Whitney, and keyboardists Kelly Brown, Joe Terry, and Maralie Terry, as well as drummer Ron Gremp and saxophone player Jim Martin. They released their debut album, Shake and Push, in 1982. Though it would be over 20 years before another Morells album appeared, the members continued to be active in various projects including both Thompson and Whitney backing Steve Forbert as the Skeletons. In 2001, a re-formed version of the Morells released their self-titled sophomore album. A third album, Think About It, appeared on Hightone in 2005. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
