Named after a beat that Cold Hart sent to Wicca Phase, GothBoiClique formed around 2013. Several other members soon joined, including Lil Tracy, YAWNS, and Døves; while based in Los Angeles, several members lived out of state, and the group communicated online through group chats. Much of GBC's roster also overlapped with Thraxxhouse, an extensive collective based in Los Angeles and Seattle. Thraxxhouse fell apart around 2015, as it became too big and unwieldy to manage, and GothBoiClique came into its own. The group issued a mixtape titled Yeah It's True in 2016, around the same time Lil Peep joined. Solo releases from the crew's members arrived at a rapid pace, including Wicca Phase's Secret Boy and Cold Hart's Marvelous Misadventures of Coldy. Peep received the greatest amount of media coverage, both before and after his untimely death in November of 2017. His posthumous 2018 album Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 2 reached number four on the Billboard 200, and single "Falling Down" (with XXXTentacion) charted in two dozen countries, reaching number one in Finland, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden. In 2019, GBC embarked on the Love Gang Forever Tour and released the single "Tiramisu." ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
