The Brighton-based band -- comprising vocalist Theresa Jarvis, guitarist George Edwards, bassist Alex Crosby, and drummer Robert Mason -- met in college while each member played in different bands. They got together in 2014 and quickly gained a reputation for their formidable live shows. In 2016, they issued their debut single, "Ignorance," followed by "Drongo." The next year they released "Wouldn't Wanna Be Ya" before the arrival of their first EP, Heavy, which featured the single "Bubblegum." In 2019, Yonaka returned with their debut full-length, Don't Wait 'Til Tomorrow (Fueled by Ramen), which included the singles "Bad Company" and "Creature." Riding a wave of U.K. acclaim, they saw their debut rise into the Top 40 and later teamed with Bring Me the Horizon for the collaboration "Tapes."
In 2020, they issued the short EP Yonaka Stripped before a new album era kicked off in 2021 with "Seize the Power" and "Ordinary." ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
