At one time heralded as the leader of the American acid jazz sound in the early '90s when he was recording for Ubiquity, DJ Greyboy (born Andreas Stevens) eventually moved away from the acid jazz sound once that scene went downhill, and went back to his initial passion, hip-hop. However, before moving away from the acid jazz scene, he released two celebrated albums on Ubiquity -- Freestylin' (1994) and Land of the Lost (1996) -- and also recorded music as the Greyboy Allstars on Greyboy Records with an array of musicians. After recording some DJ mix albums for his other label, P-Jays, in 1998, Greyboy returned from a brief sabbatical in 2001 with his third and least acid jazz-sounding album, Mastered the Art.
