Geometric Farms
from Cologne, Germany
Biography
A name possibly inspired by a line in Joni Mitchell's Amelia, Geometric Farms is one of the many aliases of Cologne techno pioneer Jörg Burger, whose other aliases include but aren't limited to the Bionaut, the Modernist, Triola, and -- with Wolfgang Voigt -- Burger/Ink. As Geometric Farms, Burger's productions are even more melodic, warm, and lush than his work as the Modernist. In fact, the experimental techno tag is rather misleading, as the tracks are just as accessible as pop songs made with traditional rock instrumentation. In 2001, Geometric Farms contributed spectacular tracks to several compilations, including Kompakt's Pop Ambient 2001, Leichtes Hören's Teil 1, and Ba Da Bing!'s Soothing Sounds for Raymond, a super-limited-edition tribute to electronic guru Raymond Scott (only 100 copies were pressed). ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
