Tony Merrick, as a solo act on record or leading a band called Tony Merrick Scene, was a fixture in the pop-rock music world of Scotland during the middle-late 1960's. He never had remotely as much impact as, say, The Poets, and his sole extant recording in the 1990's is his 1965-vintage cover of the Rolling Stones' Lady Jane, on which his performance treads (not always successfully) a fine line between decadent and disinterested.
