Everybody Was in the French Resistance...Now!
Biography
Eddie Argos and Dyan Valdés comprise Everybody Was in the French Resistance...Now!, a side-project lark that's every bit as silly as its name suggests. The genesis of the group came when Argos (the frontman of British punky-pop yuksters Art Brut) and his girlfriend Valdés (who plays piano and sings with L.A. indie rockers the Blood Arm) were on a road trip together and Argos explained his frustrations with the premise of Martha Reeves the Vandellas' "Jimmy Mack." The pair decided that they should be the ones to revise the song's "mistakes" with their own response, and the concept took off from there, with "corrections" to the likes of Avril Lavigne, Bob Dylan, Kanye West, and Frank Sinatra. Taking their name from a favorite phrase of one of Valdés' UCLA professors, EWITFRN wrote their debut album in a matter of weeks and recorded it at Joshua Tree -- an act they committed as an "answer" to U2, who were merely photographed there. Fixin' the Charts, Vol. 1 was released on Cooking Vinyl in February 2010. ~ K. Ross Hoffman, Rovi
