Biography
Cavaquinho player Nelson Alves played in the Grupo de Chiquinha Gonzaga with Tute and Antônio Mariz dos Passos. He was one of the founding members of Oito Batutas in 1919. Alves also performed on Pixinguinha's early recordings and was a member of the Guarda Velha group. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
