LoveRance
from San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Biography
Hailing from the Bay Area of San Francisco, LoveRance -- real name Rance Oliver -- made the transition between independent local rapper and international major-label star within a head-spinning matter of months. Having been focusing his attention on organizing parties for other artists in the Bay Area, Oliver decided to put his own rapping skills to the test. In the summer of 2011, with the help of blogs and social media sites such as Twitter, Oliver's first single, "Up!," entered the Top 100 of Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Featuring friends Skipper and the song's producer, IamSu!, "Up!" was a suitable introduction to Oliver's laid-back Southern style and caught the ear of fellow San Franciscan and Interscope executive VP of A&R Larry Jackson after being played on local radio station KMEL. At the end of September, a meeting was arranged and the then-24-year-old signed to Interscope, which drafted in 50 Cent to record a verse on "Up!," which then entered the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2012. After appearing alongside various other rappers such as Show Banga and Rayven Justice, LoveRance went about preparing his debut album. ~ Daniel Clancy, Rovi
