Quarter-Life Crisis
Biography
The collaborative indie rock project of Juno Award-winning producer Ryan Hemsworth, Quarter-Life Crisis pairs Hemsworth's designs and melodies with the lyrics and vocal performances of guests. Leaning away from Hemsworth's more club-minded prior material, the project's reflective, self-titled debut EP from 2020 featured members of Hop Along, Hand Habits, and more.
Produced in the studio by Hemsworth with live instrumentation, the six-track debut Quarter-Life Crisis ranged from atmospheric indie folk ("Waterfall" with Hovvdy's Charlie Martin) to dreamy synthesizer songs ("Comfortable" with Hand Habits' Meg Duffy). With other singer/lyricists like the idiosyncratic Frances Quinlan of Hop Along on board, each track had its own personality while maintaining a hazy, meditative flow. It arrived on Saddle Creek in December of 2020. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
