Samuel Kerridge
from Manchester, England
Biography
British producer Samuel Kerridge moved to Berlin in 2011 and co-founded Contort, a weekly series of events devoted to experimental electronic music, with his wife, Hayley Kerridge. His noisy, abstract techno tracks first saw release on the Auris Interna EP on Horizontal Ground, and a meeting with Karl O'Connor (Regis) led to three releases on Downwards in 2013, including the full-length LP A Fallen Empire. The year 2014 saw the release of the Deficit of Wonder EP on James Ruskin's Blueprint label. In 2015, Kerridge established Contort as a label with the release of his second LP, Always Offended Never Ashamed. The album explored more abstract territory than his previous work, veering away from the dancefloor and closer to his industrial roots, with harsh guitars and distorted vocals. A 7" single titled "Sonic Instruments of War" followed on Contort later in the year. Kerridge returned to Downwards in early 2016 with his third full-length, Fatal Light Attraction. An EP titled The Silence Between Us arrived a year later. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
