Mick Boogie is an innovative mixtape producer who moonlights as DJ for Cleveland, OH's NBA team the Cavaliers. Born in Youngstown, OH, Boogie grew up listening to classic hip-hop DJs like Jazzy Jeff, Kid Capri, and Stretch Armstrong. It was the DJs who came later, like Drama and Green Lantern, who influenced Boogie to try his hand at the exploding mixtape game. His breakthrough mixtape came in 2004 when he collaborated with Juelz Santana for The Big Picture. In 2005 he became the Cavaliers' official DJ thanks to one of his big fans, NBA superstar Lebron James. Soon artists like Kanye, Nas, and Common were collaborating with Boogie, while Ghostface gave the DJ a wealth of outtakes for their team-up, The Broiled Salmon. The year 2007 was filled with activity, with Boogie becoming co-owner of the hip-hop clothing store Motivation Boutique in Ann Arbor, MI. He also released a number of high-profile mixtapes including The Re-Up with Eminem and the Alchemist, And Justus for All with Little Brother, the J Dilla tribute Dillagence with Busta Rhymes, plus the Jay-Z/Marvin Gaye mash-up Brooklyn Soul. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
