Biography
Singer/songwriter Jenai grew up a small town girl with a dream in the backwoods of Idaho where she spent summers fishing and swimming. During the winter, music was the focus and Jenai would surround herself with her mother's record collection. She studied the works of Hank Williams, Billie Holiday, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Bobbie Gentry, and Janis Joplin. By the time Jenai graduated from high school, she had a serious plan for making music her life. She ventured to Seattle to attend the Cornish School of Music. She made her way around the music scene playing gigs with the Northern Lights and during this time, Jenai started playing bass. Three years passed by and she was looking for a change. With a degree in hand and a passion for country music, she set up camp in Nashville. As a waitress during the day, she served the likes of Pam Tillis, Emmylou Harris, John Hiatt, and Shania Twain. It wasn't long until she met with a local producer to record her first song Lyin' to My Heart. The song earned her a deal with Curb. In spring 2002, Jenai released her debut album Cool Me Down. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
