Etcetera
Biography
The Danish symphonic prog rock band Etcetera grew out of high school bands led by Johnnie McCoy (drums) and Frank Carvalho (guitars). Originally formed in 1986, Etcetera included Anders Kiaerulff (bass), Michael Munch-Hansen (vocals, keyboards), and Lars Soegaard (flute, saxophone). However, Carvalho and McCoy would recorded Etcetera's eponymous epic debut in 1988 with Morten Elbaek (saxophone) and Mads Wadmand (keyboards). In the group's next incarnation, McCoy was replaced by Jens Nyholm while Elbaek and Wadmand left the band. This new version of the group recorded The Difficult Second in 1990 with guest vocals by Munch-Hansen. Etcetera then disbanded, only to reform in 1995. Working on new material in conjunction to dusting off older tapes, the group released Fin de Siecle in 1999. However, with the band now living far apart from each other, a new version of Etcetera was put together in 1999 featuring McCoy, Carvalho, Rene Esmann on bass, and Christian Lauridsen on keyboards and vocals. In the process of working on new material, however, Esmann left the band. ~ Geoff Orens, Rovi
