Biography
Steve Upton was born in 1946; he started playing drums in 1960. He did so to be the percussion man for a band that two of his friends were forming. That group was called the Scimitars, and Upton learned his craft while performing with them. When they broke up, he played in a blues band for a time, and after that group broke up he quit playing for a while. In 1969, he was approached by members of an unnamed group and joined; when the group settled on a name, it was Wishbone Ash. He was their only drummer until 1990, when he left them and the music business. ~ Gary Hill, Rovi
