Biography
Originating from the Netherlands' North Brabant province, WW are an electronic dance music DJ and production duo who have specialized in commercial, big-room house and trance. The Ws stand for Willem van Hanegem and Wardt van der Harst. They met in 2007 and quickly gained support from the likes of Tiësto and David Guetta, as well as Armin van Buuren, whose radio show, A State of Trance, began to regularly feature the duo's prolific supply of productions and remixes the same year. Van Hanegem and van der Harst released a double-length album, Impact, in 2011, but they reached a much broader audience in 2014 with "Bigfoot," a single that cracked the Top 30 of the Dutch Single Top 100 chart and dented Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs survey in the U.S. Also in 2014, WW began a long-running program, Mainstage -- named after their label, Mainstage Music -- broadcast on the Netherlands' SLAM! station. The duo steadily recorded and performed during the next few years. In 2017, they debuted their trance-oriented WNYR ("new year") side project with a remix of Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill." ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
