Active as the drummer for Friendship and one of the founders of the Dear Life label, Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Michael Cormier began releasing thoughtful, reflective solo songs that explored childhood memories and complex emotions as often as they ruminated on scenes from everyday life. After releasing a few folk-adjacent albums, Cormier added depth to his sound on third album More Light!! by inviting remote collaboration from a host of friends.

Cormier made his debut as a singer-songwriter in 2019 with Days Like Pearls, the first release on his label Dear Life Records. Before that, he had already been active in the Philly D.I.Y. scene as a member of the understated indie quintet Friendship and a songwriter for instrumental collective Hour. Days Like Pearls was quickly followed by second album M-F, also released in 2019, and both were made up of minimal arrangements of acoustic instruments and Cormier's plaintive vocals. For third album More Light!!, he sent skeletal recordings of partially finished songs to friends to improvise on top of, expanding his palette from quiet bedroom folk to include electronic elements, captivating layered vocal harmonies, and string parts.
