The Art Attacks
from London, England
Biography
The Art Attacks were a short-lived post-punk band from Britain that combined the talents of drummer J.D. Haney, guitarist Steve Spear, bassist M.S., and vocalist Edwin Pouncey (aka the cartoonist Savage Pencil). The band cut their teeth by playing London's Vortex frequently; in fact, their second recorded appearance was on 1977's Live at the Vortex compilation. (Their first appearance was on Beggars Banquet's Streets package.) Pouncey was out of the band by the end of 1977, and the group continued for less than a month until opting to cease operations. Oddly enough, the band released their only single posthumously; the I Am a Dalek single was issued on Albatross in April of 1978, and they made another compilation appearance on Fresh's A Fresh Selection, which was released in 1982. Haney later joined the Monochrome Set. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
