Biography
Originally called the Ludlow Trio, this threesome -- named for the Woody Guthrie song and featuring Jim McCann -- was formed in Dublin in 1965. They quickly became one of the three most popular folk acts in Dublin, after the Dubliners and the Wolf Tones, and were signed to Pye Records. In 1966, their version of Dominic Behan's The Sea Around Us propelled them to the top of the Irish charts. The group disbanded the following year, at which time McCann embarked on a solo career. Their 1965 single Yesterday's Dream was included on Castle Records' compilation Troubadours of Folk: The 60s Acoustic Explosion in 2003. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
