Overcast
Biography
Metalcore pioneers Overcast formed in 1991 in Boston, MA, around the talents of bass player Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Pete Cortese and Scott McCooe, vocalist Brian Fair, and drummer Jay Fitzgerald. The band released its debut 7", Bleed into One, in 1992 on Exchange Records, followed by the full-length Expectational Dilution in 1994. Three more 7" releases arrived in 1995 and 1996, culminating in the Fight Ambition to Kill full-length the following year. In 1998, after a less than successful tour, the group quietly disbanded, splintering off to become cogs in numerous different bands, including Shadows Fall (Fair), Killswitch Engage (D'Antonio), Seemless (Cortese), Transient (McCooe), and Tunnel Drill (Fitzgerald). The band reunited in 2008 for the Metal Blade release Reborn to Kill Again, a collection of re-recordings of band and fan favorites, as well as two brand new tracks. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
