The Olms
Biography
The Olms are a retro-leaning pop/rock duo made up of singer/songwriter Pete Yorn and musician, photographer, and artist J.D. King. The two met in the mid-2000s through King's girlfriend and stayed in touch over the years. When Yorn heard King's 2008 album Here's J.D. King, he was so impressed with his friend's musical acumen that he invited him on tour. The two began working seriously on music together in the autumn of 2011, writing songs and recording them at King's Bel Air, California home studio. Both Yorn and King wore many musical hats during the process, sharing guitar, drums, and keys duties while adding the occasional clarinet, Jew's harp, and concertina to the laid-back sound. The pair chose the name the Olms and finished up their self-titled album in autumn 2012. It was released in early summer of 2013 by the newly relaunched Harvest Records. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
