Biography
Omega, also known as Omega el Fuerte or Omega y Su Mambo Violento, is a Dominican merengue vocalist with an urban style informed by hardcore rap and reggaeton. Born Antonio Peter de la Rosa in Bonao, Dominican Republic, the merengue urbano vocalist grew up in the Pantoja neighborhood of Santo Domingo. He made his full-length album debut with Omega y Su Mambo Violento in 2006 on the label Allegro Music. The album spawned his break-out hit, "Alante Alante." In 2008 he released El Fuerte, a nine-song mini album on Allegro that spawned another hit single, "Si No Me Amas." Omega's next full-length album release was El Dueño del Flow (2009) on the Allegro subsidiary label Planet Records. Featuring the hit singles "Merengue Electrónico" and "Tu Si Quieres, Tu No Quieres," the album was re-released with bonus material a couple years later as El Dueño del Flow, Vol. 2 (2011). ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
