This Peter Clark played bass and sang with Nine Below Zero, a group with plenty of pedigree as a British urban blues or rhythm and blues combo, including a band name derived from a song by the American harmoica player and singer Sonny Boy Williamson II. The band's early recording career is remarkable more for how quickly a signing with biggie label AM was arranged then for the music itself, mostly a matter of routine cover versions. Guitarist and lead vocalist Dennis Greaves and harmonica player Mark Feltham lit the musical path as the band's lighthouse, with drummers Kenny Bradley and later Stix Burkey filling out the rhythm section.

Greaves began contributing enough original material to fill an entire release by 1981, and the group's 1982 album entitled Third Degree represented a breakthrough in terms of commercial success and radio airplay. True to form, this was a signal for the combo to break up. In 1989 the Greaves and Feltham team reunited for another try with the group but brought in an entirely different drums and bass combination. Bassist Clark seems to have been frozen out of the picture by the Nine Below Zero experience, and should not be confused with a variety of other instrumentalists with this name on the British scene alone. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, Rovi
