Biography
Issuing an uncanny, ethereal blend of orchestrated indie pop and insular synth experiments involving manipulated voice samples, Lisel is the solo project of classically trained violinist and soprano Eliza Bagg. Her debut album, Angels on the Slope, arrived in 2019.

After studying music at Yale, Durham, North Carolina native Eliza Bagg balanced collaborations with classical and avant-garde artists including but not limited to Meredith Monk, John Zorn, and Julianna Barwick, with membership in the indie bands Plume Giant (2010-2015) and their later incarnation, Pavo Pavo. She co-founded both of those groups with Yale classmates Oliver Hill and Nolan Green. Brooklyn's Pavo Pavo went on indefinite hiatus following the release of their second album, January 2019's Mystery Hour (Bella Union). Newly based in Los Angeles, Bagg made her Lisel debut with the single "Digital Light Field" that May. The self-produced full-length Angels on the Slope followed on Luminelle Recordings in July of 2019. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
