Biography
The children's duo Cathy Fink Marcy Marxer began recording together in the late '80s and, almost immediately, their blend of folk, blues, bluegrass, and pop -- coupled with creative, intelligent, and non-patronizing lyrics -- won them critical acclaim and devoted fans. Their 1997 lullaby collection Blanket Full of Dreams won awards from the American Library Association and publications like Parent's Choice and Early Childhood News, and received a Grammy Award nomination. Fink Marxer's 2000 album Pillow Full of Wishes collected more bedtime songs and stories. All Wound Up! A Family Music Party followed in early 2001. A year later, the fun-spirited songbook surrounding artistic themes of rest time and dream time, the magical Pocket Full of Stardust, was released. For 2003's Bon Appétit! Musical Food Fun, Fink Marxer explored the world of food for a merry experience for kids. Scat Like That: A Musical Word Odyssey (2005) was an equally lighthearted affair with its exciting selection of musical genres. In 2009 the duo issued Banjo to Beatbox, an album also featuring special guest Christylez Bacon. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
