Biography
Dave Kaplan’s big break in the music business came in the mid-’80s when he began managing UB40. This led to managing the likes of Brian Setzer, Dave Stewart, Gary Hoey, and the Butthole Surfers, among others. In 1992, he founded Surfdog records, in part as a method of funding his philanthropic efforts. Setzer and Hoey have been with the label since the beginning, but more recent signings include Dave Stewart, Dan Hicks, and Joss Stone. Surfdog released Glen Campbell’s final studio album in 2011 and Eric Clapton joined the label in 2013. ~ Sean Westergaard, Rovi
