Biography
The short-lived industrial/gothic act Eve of Destiny had Japanese origins, but was mostly active in Europe, aiming for the region's thriving gothic scene. Initially a one-man band of Haruhiko Ash, member of the punk/hard rock band the Zolge, he debuted with the song Desperado on the U.S. compilation Black Bible, and gave his first show at the world's prime darkside festival Wave Gothic Treffen. That stint was followed by a three-year hiatus, but the project got another boost in 2002, when it expanded to a duo that included the guitarist Kozi of the gothic/visual kei masterminds Malice Mizer, which had gone on hiatus in 2001. The new Eve of Destiny began by touring overseas -- they played Philippines, later New Zealand and Switzerland, and in 2003-2004 toured a lot of clubs in both Japan and Europe, gaining a fanbase in Australia as well. That and the inclusion of their tracks on several gothic music compilations suggested a promising future, but all was ruined by mismanagement of the label: German Celtic Circle Production, to which Eve of Destiny signed in 2005, delayed their debut EP Nervous Innocence, botched the festival it tried to organize, and finally closed down for good. That was the end for Eve of Destiny as well, with the band ceasing activity in 2006, and both members keeping a low profile since. ~ Alexey Eremenko, Rovi
