Biography
Mark De Gli Antoni is best known as the keyboard sampler for the New York-based pop group Soul Coughing. But De Gli Antoni had already been a part of the downtown scene, along with Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg and drummer Yuval Gabay, before forming the hip-hop influenced group with singer/guitarist M. Doughty in 199?. De Gli Antoni first gained some notoriety after moving to New York from San Francisco in the early 1990s for his electronic music compositions and formed the experimental compositional collective Rough Assemblage. His name appeared on many avant-garde albums as assistant engineer, as he worked in various New York studios before the success of Soul Coughing. More notably, De Gli Antoni participated in John Zorn's Cobra game piece and on the live recording of the same name. In 1999, De Gli Antoni wrote and produced Horse Tricks, a solo album of experimental electronic music, for Zorn's Tzadik label. ~ Matthew Carlin, Rovi
