The Christian hip-hop artist sometimes known as either Selah or the Corner was born Nathaniel Martinez and grew up in Yonkers, New York. Driven equally by his faith and a love of hip-hop, Selah took inspiration from biblical scriptures when forming his mission of spreading the Christian gospel as well as a message of interpersonal love and ethical treatment of all people. His first mixtape, Hoodie Season, arrived in 2013 and was followed by Hoodie Season 2 the next year. By this time he had joined forces with the Christian rap label God Over Money, who worked with Selah on developing his debut album.
